The best month to get married in Australia- Victoria

The Best Time to Tie the Knot: Choosing Your Wedding Month in Victoria, Australia.

Getting married is an exhilarating journey, a milestone that marks the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of couples. However, amidst the thrill of starting this journey together, the daunting task of making significant decisions like selecting a date and venue can quickly dampen the excitement. And let’s not even get started on navigating the labyrinth of décor choices and finding the right wedding suppliers.

I vividly remember embarking on my own wedding planning journey by pondering the season in which I wanted to exchange vows. As someone who adores warm weather, the thought of braving the cold winter for couple photos sent shivers down my spine. However, after spending 13 years as a full-time wedding photographer, I’ve gained valuable insights into the intricacies of selecting the perfect season or month for a wedding. Sometimes, it’s not just about the weather; factors like budget and availability often take precedence.

Let’s delve into some helpful tips to assist you in choosing the ideal season to get married:

1. Preference:

The paramount factor to consider when selecting a wedding month is personal preference. Every couple envisions their special day in a certain way, whether it’s a formal affair, an intimate gathering, or an exotic celebration. The venue, décor, and season you opt for will contribute to the overall atmosphere of your dream wedding. Your preferences will serve as the guiding light in determining the perfect month to say “I do.” Start by jotting down your desired wedding look and feel to gain clarity on your vision.

For example:

– Outdoor ceremony

– Beneath the canopy of trees

– Warm weather

– Alfresco reception

Creating this preference list will provide you with a clear roadmap for your wedding planning journey.

2. Locations:

Once you’ve narrowed down your preferences, it’s time to scout for locations that align with your vision. Australia is a vast and diverse country with varying climates and landscapes, offering a plethora of options for your dream wedding. Keep in mind that you might find the perfect setting in other states if you’re willing to venture beyond Victoria to turn your dream into reality.

3. Season:

– SPRING (September-November):

As biased as it may sound, spring holds a special place in my heart. The warmer weather and blooming flowers create an enchanting backdrop for wedding photos. However, it’s essential to note that spring is a peak wedding season, often resulting in limited availability and higher costs due to the high demand.

– SUMMER (December-February):

Summer is undoubtedly a sought-after season for weddings, and it’s easy to see why! With its warm weather and stunning landscapes, it sets the stage for unforgettable outdoor ceremonies and picture-perfect photo shoots. From sun-drenched beaches to lush gardens, summer provides a captivating backdrop that enhances the magic of the day. It’s no wonder that couples are drawn to the romantic allure of summer weddings, where every moment is bathed in the golden glow of the sun.

Despite its allure with scorching heat and beautiful blooms, summer weddings come with their share of challenges. The intense heat can be discomforting for both the bridal couple and guests, causing makeup to melt and flowers to wither prematurely.

Additionally, the extended daylight hours shorten the overall wedding time, leaving less time for festivities.

AUTUMN (March-May):

Autumn, my second favorite wedding season, offers pleasant temperatures and a kaleidoscope of colors as the seasons transition. The changing foliage provides a stunning backdrop for photos, bathed in the soft, magical light of autumn. However, be prepared for occasional rainfall, as autumn weddings are quite popular and finding an available date can be challenging. Autumn also boasts numerous public holidays, potentially overlapping with plans your guests may have already made.

– WINTER (June-August):

While winter may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it has its own unique charm for weddings. Despite the chilly weather, winter weddings are often more affordable, with venues offering discounts during this season.

The warm, soft light and neutral backdrops also make stunning pictures. Moreover, longer receptions are possible due to the early sunset, allowing more time to cherish moments with guests.
